2019 CELF Citizen Science in New York School Communities

Description

This professional learning program, Citizen Science in NY School Communities, incorporates NGSS and project-based learning into existing curriculum for middle school science teachers.  This program engages students (grades 5-8) as environmental health researchers to collect, analyze and compare air quality data. Using this data, students will identify sources of air pollution, connect them to human behavior and develop prevention and remediation plans for their communities.
 

Registration and Letter of Commitment from School Principal deadline is January 23, 2019.

 

Program Fees:

Citizen Science Program School Participation (up to 3 teachers): $1,000.00

Citizen Science ASPDP Program Participant: $1,090.00 (For NYC DOE teachers only. P-credit through ASPDP.)
 

Program fees include:

  • Citizen Science Toolkit (curriculum, technology, content resources)

  • Two (2) full days of professional development with CELF and program partners

  • Optional: ASPDP credits (additional fee per above)

  • Opportunity for participation in Student Symposium

  • Ongoing monthly support from CELF educators
